Double Barrel Tokaji

  • Imperial Stout

Pronounced “toe-kai”, this decadent imperial stout was aged 23 months in bourbon and rye barrels, then aged for another 18 months in Hungarian Tokaji casks.

The extended finishing time in Tokaji barrels added layers of honeyed apricot, dried fruit, and sweetness to an already rich foundation of dark chocolate and vanilla oak.

The aroma is a blend of banana, clove & bubblegum, with hints of freshly baked bread & subtle floral notes. It has a medium body with a dry finish. Flavors of sweet fruity esters, spicy phenolics from the Hefe yeast, and honey/bread notes from the wheat malt. The finish is clean & refreshing with the tiniest amount of hop bitterness to balance it all out. Perfect for these hot summer days.

This Hefe was named after a street that Quentin grew up on. This bright beer style reminded him of summers in rural west TN.
